Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: IT@STS Information Technology At St. Stanislaus Welcome toSlide 2: Keyboarding Skills are taught formally starting in Grade 1 with home keys finger placements.Slide 3: Students develop research skills in the computer lab and in the library . They can save files to their private folders using library or computer systems that are joined to our Intranet .Slide 4: Students use many on-line tools to research. Some include: www.discoveryeducation.com www.goodsearch.com www.safe-google.com www.worldbookonline.com (for kids or students) They keep some research digitally to use with presentation tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint.Slide 5: Students are instructed about copyright laws and the need to cite sources for the information they use in their final work, whether it be a word processing document or a presentation. This student is using the on-line tool at www.Noodletools.com . Students have accounts so that they can log on at home or any place outside the school such as a library or grandparents’ houses, and gather resources for a project.Slide 6: We stress Internet Safety by using these reminders. You can access Netsmartz information by entering www.netsmartzkids.org .Slide 7: In Fall 2010, students began to see some goals and some instructions to meet those goals on a public, yet protected, website that uses www.wikispaces.com . It can be accessed at www.ststanislausit.wikispaces.com . They can see the information and download what they need to private or shared folders. Sometimes student work is uploaded as samples for others to see.Slide 8: Eighth graders and members of the computer ambassadors club have their own website pages on wikispaces.com. We are striving to use 21 st Century Tools. Benefits include, on-line collaboration by sharing wikispaces with classmates, on-line communication by easy upload of important data as well as messages, and on-line creativity by uploading projects for use at school or home. One goal is that students become engaged in producing educational work of high excellence.Slide 9: Teachers and Students use the lab for Presentations. Pictures via cell phone.Slide 10: Students made poems come to life! They copied and pasted poetry from a Word file into a PowerPoint. Then they “Jazzed It Up” with colors and clip art. They can multitask!Slide 11: We have LOYAL students who make sure all the equipment is turned off at the end of the day.Slide 12: We have so many people to thank for the condition of our technology program. Miss Diane E. McCaughan , our supportive principal Mrs. Judy Kraft, our former technology coordinator Dedicated Teachers who persevere in learning and using technology with their students Benefactors who provide financial support Parish Volunteers who install Smartboards , Projectors and lots of wires Parish volunteers who help to install programs Volunteers from Lansdale Catholic who help to upgrade current systems Parents who permit their children to participate in programs such as computer ambassadors and creativeit programming And so many more who BELIEVE in Us and what we can do.Slide 13: Remember, With Jesus, we can do!
