Hi, My name is Grizz and Forrest is my main bear

Where Do I live – What is my habitat?:

Where Do I live – What is my habitat? We live in western United States, Canada, and Mexico We live in caves, natural shelters and dig dens. Our Dig dens are dug in the fall before the freeze, on the steep slopes with a narrow opening. Our Dig dens have a large sleeping room. We move into our dens in October to December.

What do I look like?:

What do I look like? We are grizzled which means “streaked with gray”. Our under fur has shades of brown and outer hairs that are white or silver tipped. All these different colors give us our grizzled look. We come in all different colors from cream to almost black. Our tallest guy is almost 8 feet tall and weighs 1500 pounds (He likes basketball) Our ladies are smaller but don’t let that fool you they can be mean if you mess with any of our cubs. We have small eyes, small round ears, and a large snout and nose. (good to smell with)

What do I like to eat?:

What do I like to eat? I eat elk, moose, fish and almost all other meat I can find. I love to eat plants, berries, grasses, leaves, roots. I have a special lip that allows me to pick berries. Take a look, its ok I wont bite look closer.

PowerPoint Presentation:

What do I like to eat? Pretty cool . You have hands I have special lips . I like to eat so much that I will eat 80 – 90 pounds of food a day. If you had to eat as much as me you would have to eat 300 hamburgers . In the fall I gain several pounds of fat every day. I eat almost nothing in the winter because I’m hibernating. Forrest says I snore.

Life Cycle – Most important is we are listed as a threatened animal :

Life Cycle – Most important is we are listed as a threatened animal Habitat Loss We Grizzlies need a lot of land and space to live. We are a rowdy bunch who need 7-1,245 square miles for a good habitat Oil and gas development sometimes takes away Our living space People take away their space. People tear out plants and trees that we need for good food. Sometimes we just want to push humans out of our way .

Life Cycle – Most important is we are listed as a threatened animal :

Life Cycle – Most important is we are listed as a threatened animal Survival Rate 53% of cubs don’t survive their first year. Mom bears can have 4 cubs but usually only have 2. If the mom is health and fat when she starts hibernating she will have more cubs The babies are born while she hibernates and they are the size of a baseball.

Where do my other bear friends live?:
