Premium member Presentation Transcript Northern Mozambique: Northern MozambiqueIt started in Dar, we were whisked to the Internal Terminal of the airport where we had to hurry up an wait… a few hours in fact until our private charter was refilled with avgas: It started in Dar, we were whisked to the Internal Terminal of the airport where we had to hurry up an wait… a few hours in fact until our private charter was refilled with avgasThen we departed and after 2 hours landed at Mocimboa da Praia where we cleared customs and headed on to Vamizi.: Then we departed and after 2 hours landed at Mocimboa da Praia where we cleared customs and headed on to Vamizi.And we arrive in the heat on Vamizi, a short land rover ride to the lodge and, Paradise only 10 luxury beach houses and fine, white coral sand. : And we arrive in the heat on Vamizi, a short land rover ride to the lodge and, Paradise only 10 luxury beach houses and fine, white coral sand..: .And then on to Majumbe Island for some more paradise. This is a very small island with 13 cottages all with views of the beach. Possibly the some of the best snorkelling on the trip. : And then on to Majumbe Island for some more paradise. This is a very small island with 13 cottages all with views of the beach. Possibly the some of the best snorkelling on the trip.A quick flight and we are on the sister island on Matemo, larger and busier but I really liked it as it had a buzz. Distinctively island paradise with a lovely bay.The 45 minute boat ride to Guludo on the mainland is a bit exhilarating and we did get very wet. On arrival the warm welcome and unusual “bush” showers soon made us feel at home again. : The 45 minute boat ride to Guludo on the mainland is a bit exhilarating and we did get very wet. On arrival the warm welcome and unusual “bush” showers soon made us feel at home again.Guludo has a strong ethical drive and source all materials and staff locally. They have also been involved in sponsoring the schools and Ladies Craft groups. Local labour is being used to build the new rooms at Guludo and they even make their own lime using old traditional ways. : Guludo has a strong ethical drive and source all materials and staff locally. Local labour is being used to build the new rooms at Guludo and they even make their own lime using old traditional ways.Ibo was the next stop on route south. I loved Ibo Island and lodge for its “old world charm”. Ancient generations had come to Ibo for the same reason. Now the islanders sell their silver wares in the courtyard of the ancient building. : The Old Fort was built by the Arabs in the slave trade and used by the Portuguese right up until the early 1970’s. Now the islanders sell their silver wares in the courtyard of the ancient building.Quilalea. More rocky thank any of the others but with a beauty of its own. That is if you don’t catch the spring tides.
