Ayurvedic college, Vijayawada.A.PRASASINDURA : 2 RASASINDURA DEFINITION : As this medicine is prepared with Rasa (mercury) and the outcome is in sindura colour (bright brick-red), it is named as Rasa sindura. This is also known as Kupi pakvarasayana, since it is prepared in Kacha kupi (glass bottle).Slide 3: 3 RASASINDURA HISTORY:- 10 th century A.D According to SWAMY HARISARANANANDAJI who made an extensive study in this on kupi pakwarasayana. Bhrastri (kiln)RASASINDURA: 10 RASASINDURA Method of Rasa Sindura: The following are the stages of Rasa Sindura preparation. 1.Rasa-Gandhaka Shodhana- Purification of mercury and sulphur. 2. kajjalinirmana- Preparation of Kajjali. 3. kajjali- Bhavana- Grinding of Kajjali along with herbo- juice and decoctions. 4. Kupi bharana- Filling of Kajjali in to the glass bottle that is already enwrapped with clay-smeared cloth.Slide 11: 11 5. Valuka yantra sthapana- Arranging the bottle amidst sand in an Iron trough which is kept in the kiln. 6. Paka vidhi-prathama- Giving heat the first stage. 7. Paka vidhi-dvitiya- Giving heat- the second stage 8. Kupi mukha mudrana- Closing and sealing of the bottle.RASASINDURA…: 12 RASASINDURA… 9. Paka vidhi- tritiya- Giving heat- the third stage 10. These are now being explained as to what details are to be followed and what happen at every sageRASASINDURA: 13 RASASINDURA Qualities of Rasasindura: Rasa sindura is like lion to the elephant – like prameha (urinary anomalies). It destroy severe colic/pain; matchless remedy for fistula and like the controlling poignant weapon to the big elephant like fever. It snatches away all the diseases and consumes all consumption disorders. It has no match in giving happiness.
