Loretta AIMS : AIMS To get the firsthand experience and direct contact with the things and systems of real life related to the classroom instructions. To have an in depth study of an instructional unit. To arouse interest in an instructional unit. To impart positive attitude and sharpen social skills. To review a classroom instruction by relating it to the real situation. PURPOSES : PURPOSES To provide real life situations To supplement classroom instruction To serve as a preview of lesson and for gathering instructional materials. To verify various information, class discussions and conclusions of individual experiments. To serve as a mean of arousing specific interest in material objects, places or process. To create teaching situations for cultivating observation, keenness and discovery. To serve as a mean to develop positive attitudes, values and specific skills. ADVANTAGES : ADVANTAGES Field trips provide accurate information about objects, process and systems in the real settings. Field trips provide meaningful and direct experience. Students’ enthusiasm for field trips can be effectively transformed to effective learning. Field trips are valuable aids to what students’ curiosity about natural and manmade process and objects. Field trips provide students the opportunities to utilize all the senses for learning DISADVANTAGES : DISADVANTAGES Time consuming Careful planning required Coordination and cooperation of multi- team and various agencies are required.
