Anyone can be hungry :

Anyone can be hungry But people who need food have food insecurity. Insecurity means people are not sure there will be enough food for everyone. The food we bought just didn’t last, and we didn’t have money to get more.”  “We couldn’t afford to eat balanced meals.”  quotes from clients

We are a very rich country :

We are a very rich country In Lynnwood the average family of four makes $43,000 each year Families of 4 who make less than $38,000 a year. They may be food insecure. Families of 4 making less than $20,000 are below the poverty line.

What Causes Food Insecurity? :

What Causes Food Insecurity? Q: Why is there hunger in America? A: A big part of food insecurity relates to the uncertainties of daily life. People go hungry because of unexpected events, such as paying for an emergency visit to the hospital, a car repair, or the loss of a job. So you can be just above the poverty line, and any one of those circumstances can push you into poverty. When a family is living that close to the edge, the bottom line is that cuts will be made in the consumption of food. Food is purchased with cash. If you don't have a credit card, then you have to pay cash for food. There also are problems of access and distribution. Good, healthy, fresh food is expensive, especially if you work at a minimum wage job. Remember, the national minimum wage is still $5.15 per hour; that's $10,300 a year for a fulltime job. Poverty [lack of money], Joblessness, Injury or Disease, Divorce, Family Problems Homelessness is another result of these conditions. There are homeless kids in Edmonds schools. I have known them. You couldn’t tell them from other kids

Hey, I’m just a kid what can I do? :

Hey, I’m just a kid what can I do? Pay attention to things around you Never judge or make fun of people because of clothes lack of money, family or how they live. They did not choose their life neither did you. Contribute to food drives and encourage others to do the same. See if groups you know have food drives. At Thanksgiving and Christmas there are lots of donations, but people need food every day This Saturday is an important food drive. Postal workers deliver the mail and pick up food the day before Mothers’ Day

Is this the end? :
