FINDING GOD or BEING FOUND

PowerPoint Presentation:

Start this prayer period by acknowledging that you are in God’s holy and loving presence.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Before you begin this period of prayer, relax your mind and turn your attention inward. Block out whatever may be bothering you at the moment and simply let yourself enjoy the silence and the peace.

PowerPoint Presentation:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

PowerPoint Presentation:

THANKSGIVING Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings I have received today. (Take as much time to name those you are thankful for today – people, things, events, feelings, etc.)

PowerPoint Presentation:

WELCOMING GRACE Lord, as I offer this time for you, kindly grant me the grace of openness to listen to what you have to say to me, to see what you want to show me, and to accept what you challenge me to do. May I find joy and peace in our encounter today.

EXAMINE “ Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved You! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for You. In my unloveliness , I plunged into the lovely things which You created. You were with me, but I was not with You. Created things kept me from You; yet if they had not been in You they would have not been at all.

PowerPoint Presentation:

You called, You shouted, and You broke through my deafness. You flashed, You shone, and You dispelled my blindness. You breathed Your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for You. I have tasted You, now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me, and I burned for Your peace.”

This is one of St. Augustine’s famous prayers. In this prayer, St. Augustine admitted his faults, his lack of sensitivity in feeling and acknowledging God’s presence in his life. Yet despite his own shortcomings, it was not really through his own efforts that he eventually found God. It was really God who never gave up on him. It was really God who sought him out.

PowerPoint Presentation:

How has my relationship with God been these past days? I look back on the past days and recall the times when I spared time to spend with God. I also take this opportunity to recall the times when I forgot to acknowledge that God is just near and waiting for me to seek Him and open myself to Him.

PowerPoint Presentation:

I spend this few moments of silent prayer to talk to God and discuss with Him our relationship. And in silence, I listen.

PowerPoint Presentation:

TRUST Almighty Father, open my heart that I may constantly find You in my life and open myself to you fully that all my life will depend on no one else and nothing else but You. And as St. Augustine said, may my heart be restless until it rests in You. I also implore, Lord, that You never tire from finding me when I fail to search for You. Amen.
