It was said that it started with towns forming teams and the cities forming clubs. Alexander Cartwright was the man that is said he was the true founder and he was the man who created the game rules. The first baseball contest was in 1846 and the team was Cartwright and they were the club fro New York City VS. the New York Baseball club. 25 teams from the northeast formed the first league which was National Association of Base Ball. Although the Civil War came in between after it finished there was more people playing baseball than ever before. One day the brothers Harry and George Wright created the first professional team called the Cincinnati Red Stockings. No team were able to win them they won 65 games and lost none. In 1871, the national Association became the first professional baseball league.Rules of The Game: Rules of The Game There 9 players in the field Every inning you get 3 outs When you get 3 strikes its an out or when you catch a fly-ball its also a out When you get 4 balls its an automatic walk and when they hit you as wellPitcher: Pitcher The pitcher is the man who throws the ball from the pitchers mound to home plate where the catcher is at. His job is to strike the batter out Every pitcher has their own little tricks like the Fastball, Curveball, Sinker, Slider. Pitchers also get to batCatcher: Catcher He is the man in home plate crouching in front of the umpire His duty is to catch the ball when it is pitched and making sure it dosen’t go by him He signals the pitcher on what kind of ball to throw They are required to wear gear such as the face mask, a chest protector, and the leg protector s, and they have a special glove1st Base: 1 st Base Also known as 1b The first base man plays a big responsibility because most of the throws are thrown at him to get runners out The 1b has a different glove than the other infielders They are required to have good flexibility and good reflexes as well2nd Base: 2 nd Base Also known 2b The second base man has to be very quick and get rid of the ball quick They must guard second base and try to hold the runner to prevent a stolen base They must be able to make a pivot to conduct a double play They are usually right handed, only 5 players have been left handed playing 2b3rd Base: 3 rd Base Known as 3b or the hot-corner because most of right handed hitters hit towards this direction They must have quick reflexes and a strong arms for long throws to first or throws to second to make a double-play Also they must field fly balls that are fair and in foul territoryShortstop: Shortstop Also known as SS Plays between second and third but most near to second Gets the most balls hit to him He must be very agile and have one of the best throwing armsLeft Field: Left Field Also known as LF Left field man is placed to the left of where the catcher facing the pitcher he takes care of all of space and has to back up the center field when it is close between LF and CF Must react to the ball using speed and instinctsCenter Field: Center Field Is known as CF He is right in the center of the field He has to be more quick because he has to back up LF and RF when the ball is hit to them He is the man that will catch most fly balls and the one who coordinates to prevent collisions Must be quick and use instinctsRight Field: Right Field Known as the RF Has the responsibility to back up the first base man misses a throw Has most of the same tequnique and responsibility that the LF hasDesignated Hitter: Designated Hitter Abbreviated as DH He is the man who bats for the pitcher The MLB has adopted this rule Although some say that they should take the rule out Frank Thomas :DBaseball Movies: Baseball Movies You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
