Acid Rain! :

Acid Rain!

Acid Rain Defined :

Acid Rain Defined Any type of precipitation with high concentrations of nitric and sulfuric acids can be described as acid rain. Acid rain can come in the form of tiny bits of dry material that comes down to Earth as precipitation.

Acid Rain Sources :

Acid Rain Sources Plants that have started to rot and volcanoes that have erupted release chemicals that will cause acid rain, but usually acid rain falls as consequence of our human actions. When we burn fossil fuels by burning coal, or by power plants, factories, and automobiles those all contribute to acid rain fall.

Consequences of our Human Actions :

Consequences of our Human Actions Because of the aforementioned reasons, all those things bring down acid rain. And because we bring down acid rain, our flora and fauna suffer from it as well! Acid rain causes our waters to be acidic and makes them absorb the aluminum that makes comes from soil into lakes and streams. This toxic combination makes the waters toxic to crayfish, clams, fish, and other animals who make water their home.

Consequences of our Human Actions cont. :

Consequences of our Human Actions cont. Acid rain will damage our forests, especially our higher elevated forests. It takes from the soil precious nutrients and releases the same aluminum in our waters into the soil, which makes it difficult for trees to get their necessary water. Our trees’ needles and leaves are harmed by acids as well.
