WHAT IS A DOCUMENT CAMERA?:

WHAT IS A DOCUMENT CAMERA? A DEVICE THAT PROJECTS HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGES ONTO A SCREEN (next generation beyond the Overhead Projector) PROJECTS IN 3D CAN PROJECT LIVE AND THEN RECORD THE IMAGE AKA: ELMO (other companies are Epson, Lumens) . Cost-$500-700

WHY USE A DOCUMENT CAMERA?:

Encourages active student engagement Students, especially visual learners, will benefit by seeing small items, text, demonstrations in large image format Hands-on activities allow students to place objects or items under the document camera and explain what they are showing . EDUCATIONAL USES OF A DOCUMENT CAMERA Project the a news article (e.g., today’s paper ) or editorial , political cartoon to connect to course content or to focus on a writing or reading comprehension skill Appreciate and discuss poetry or other forms of writing Show the image of page(s) or a book or document instead of making copies

HOW TO USE A DOCUMENT CAMERA:

HOW TO USE A DOCUMENT CAMERA You will need to connect the camera to a lcd projector through a computer or connected directly to a lcd projector. Only one more item is needed—a usb cord to connect the camera to the computer. Turn on the Power button Click on the Image Mate software icon or the icon on the Smartboard toolbar
