Al Ittihad sent a list of about twenty e-mail addresses of Jordan students and the Italian students sent them messages with a picture of themselves in front of their favourite monument/place in Padua and a short comment about themselves and about the monument they had chosen. My name’s Irene , and I come from Padua.I’m fifteen, and I’m studying in the art school of my city. I love the subjects of this school, because I am a creative girl! I enjoy creating subjects with clay, drawing and painting .As a hobby, in my leisure time, I usually write, listen to music and shoot many photographs! In fact I have collected many “artistic” photos of Padua, to remember the best days. My favourite place is the second largest square in Europe: Prato della Valle ! In this place, very green and surrounded by a canal, I spend many Saturday afternoons together with my friends. We walk around and look at the stalls of a very popular market which takes place every Saturday occupying all the square.

Posters were created with the messages and exhibited in our schools

Al Ittihad sent information and photos about Qusayr Amra and teachers of different disciplines of each school started to work on the subject with their pupils: Vittadello (Italian and History); Bassan, Schiavinato (Art); Schiavon (History of Art); Specchio (Maths and Physics); Favero Carraro , Bazzan (English); Schmidt (Science); Bettella (Architecture), at Liceo Modigliani; Ruba Jallad (English); Mrs Khadija (Biology); Mr Samer (Art), at Al Ittihad Secondary School.

For example, in English students have studied and compared information from different web sites on Qusayr Amra. Technical vocabulary has been highlighted and used to introduce students to subjects like art and architecture. The Italian and Jordan teachers of Science and Biology analysed the materials used in preparation layers and in the paintings of Qusayr Amra (realgar, bone black, lapis lazuli, titanium white…) The deterioration of the surfaces due to the presence of salts (such as chloride, nitrate and sulphate), was also taken into examination, together with an examination of the environmental changes around Qusayr Amra. The work concluded in May with a final exchange of materials and examples of the students’ work.
