KUFOS KUFOS is an autonomous public funded university established on 20 th November 2010; governed by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies Act, 2010 unanimously passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly and started functioning w.e.f . 01.04.2011. Erstwhile College of Fisheries, Panangad (the most rated Fisheries Colleges in India bythe ICAR), Fisheries Station, Puduveypu and Thiruvallam , Thiruvananthapuram are the constituent units of KUFOS .

RESEARCH Projects worth more than Rs.100 crores are operated at present Areas of research include Bioactive compounds, Disease diagnosis and surveillance, Biodiversity Conservation, Rural Upliftment , Sustainable farming technologies, Value addition, Barcoding of aquatic animals, Germplasm inventory and Live gene banks, socio-economic surveys, traditional knowledge and local wisdom of fishermen, stock assessment of deep sea resources, Development of captive breeding technology.
