What is sinus pressure? Sinus  headache facts.  Sinuses  in the face are air the spaces that develop from the nasal passages and help with air humidification and mucus secretion. Inflammation of the  sinuses  may decrease the ability for the mucus to drain, increasing  pressure with in the  sinuses  and leading to a  sinus  headache.

How long do the symptoms of a sinus infection last? If the symptoms last for less than  four weeks  it is termed acute, between  4-12 weeks  it is sub acute, and greater than  12 weeks  it is considered chronic sinusitis. It sounds like your infection has lasted  about two weeks  so is an acute infection. Acute causes included bacterial and viral (most common) infections.
