Facebook + Outlook = Real-time Contacts Data :

Facebook + Outlook = Real-time Contacts Data

Pulling of Facebook profile pictures into Outlook :

Pulling of Facebook profile pictures into Outlook Outlook not only pulls Facebook profile photos so that you can associate a name to a face, but it pulls the newsfeeds of your contacts into your inbox. So that means you'll see people's profile photos from Facebook, as well as all of their updates.

The Social Inbox :

The Social Inbox Social data can be incredibly useful in the business world, especially when you need to understand what your client or colleague is thinking or doing right now.

Slide 9:

Outlook will only pull data from e-mails connected to Facebook accounts. If your business e-mail isn't linked to your Facebook, your data stream won't appear in Outlook Social Connector. It gives the user an option to link the accounts.

Slide 10:

Microsoft says that the next step is to provide a richer social experience by integrating the ability to push data to other social networks, improving the look and feel of Outlook Social Connector, and adding other social networks from other regions.

Slide 11:

Microsoft Group Product Manager Paco Contreras mentions that - there's another new feature to the Facebook integration: Real-time updates - updates from your contacts will automatically be pushed to your inbox, there's no need to refresh anything. New Facebook status updates will pop up in real-time within Outlook.

Features of FBLook :

Features of FBLook Update your Facebook status directly from Outlook. Set your status to the name of the song you're playing in iTunes or WMP. See your friend statuses. See notifications of new Friend Requests, Messages, Invites, Pokes, etc..

Slide 13:

Windows XP, Vista or Windows7 with the latest Service Pack. Outlook 2003, 2007 with the latest Service Pack. FBLook System Requirements

Configuration and Setup :

Configuration and Setup After you install FBLook, you will have to tell Facebook that you want to allow FBLook to access Facebook on your behalf. After you click FBLook's "Login to Facebook" button, FBLook will display several messages to guide you through the process. That process consists of three or four steps. After you login and tell Facebook that you allow FBLook to update your status, it will be smooth sailing.

Limitations :

Limitations The Facebook integration does have limitations: FBLook does NOT work with Outlook Express. No Facebook-specific Contacts folder as for both LinkedIn and Windows Live Messenger with contact information. The communication is only one-way: Except for friend requests, you get information fed from Facebook, but you can't update the site from Outlook.
