London reeling under riots

The tension began to mount on August 4, 2011 (last Thursday) when police shot dead a young black man named Mark Duggan in Tottenham in north London.

Slide 3:

On Saturday night, a protest broke and turned violent following a disappointing visit of Duggan’s family to the police.

Slide 4:

The smoke cleared on Sunday morning and much to the dismay it was found that the riots were directed against shops owned by black and immigrant businessmen.

Again on Sunday night low-level looting spread to other parts of North London not far from Tottenham .

Both black and white youths hit the streets to loot what they could. They also trashed the shops they had just looted.
