School Procedures(General)

Morning Arrival:

Morning Arrival The school day begins at 8:00am. It is important that all students are in their classrooms ready to begin work at this time. Students arriving after 8:00 am, will need to stop at the office and get a tardy slip to be allowed to enter the classroom.

Dismissal:

Dismissal The school day ends at 3:00 pm. At the beginning of the school year you will be asked to select a regular dismissal routine for your child specifying how she/he is to get home daily. A written note is required for permanent change to this routine. To change for a day, please send a note to your child’s teacher.

Early Dismissal:

Early Dismissal An excuse is necessary for early dismissal and the student must be signed out at the office by a parent or designated individual.

Authorized to Pick-up:

Authorized to Pick-up On the first day of school you will receive a Student Data Form. On this form you will list your child’s emergency information including a list of people who are authorized to pick up your child. Anyone who is not on the list will not be permitted to leave with the student.

Tardy Arrival:

Tardy Arrival If a student arrives after 8:00 am, he/she must stop at the office to get a tardy slip. For a tardy to be excused the student must have a written note (by doctor, dentist, etc….) If a student does not have a note the tardy will be unexcused.

Absences:

Absences It is in your child’s best interest to be in school daily. He/she is missing out on valuable instructional time and it disrupts the flow of his/her education. It is difficult to make-up the learning at home by only completing missed work pages.

Absent Excuse Policy:

Absent Excuse Policy A written note is required explaining any student absence. These excuses will go to and be kept on file in the office. Students are allowed 3 days before a doctor’s note is required to excuse the absences.

Make-up work:

Make-up work Students may make up work for all absences. Student make up work will be sent home in a make-up folder. Any make-up work not returned the following day will receive a (0) zero.

Note Folder:

Note Folder The first week each student is given a green folder labeled Note Folder that they are to take home each night and bring back to school each day. This folder is to be used only for this reason and needs to be viewed and signed by the parent each day. I will check the folder the following morning for any notes that may be sent to me by the parent.

Friday Folder:

Friday Folder Each student is given a red folder labeled Take Home Work Folder. This folder will be sent home each Friday. I will not send work home during the week to allow for a full week of assignments that you may monitor and get a good idea of how your child is doing on a weekly basis.

Behavior Report:

Behavior Report Inside the left pocket of the Take Home Folder will be a behavior chart and a report for the nine weeks. This chart and report will show how your child’s behavior has been for the week, and include how if needed any improvements that have to take place.

Student Textbooks:

Student Textbooks Students are allowed to bring home textbooks for homework and study purposes. If these books are lost or damaged, the student will not receive their final report card until all fees are paid.

Clothing:

Clothing It is very important that all students are dressed appropriately according to the student handbook. If you need one; they are available online and in the office. The student will be sent home if they are not dressed accordingly.

Lunch:

Lunch Our lunch ranges from 11:00-1:00, according to grade. Students are responsible for their own money and/or knowing their student number for free/reduced lunch. Students can keep a balance on their lunch account. You may send a check to pay on your child’s lunch account.

School Visitors:

School Visitors State law requires that all visitors must enter and exit through the main lobby doors.

Parent Volunteers:

Parent Volunteers Parents who would like to help with classroom tasks, activities, and working with the students are much appreciated. Just let me know when you would like to come so that we can arrange a time.
