(1) Identify the source of the stress. Talk to employees about how they are coping with the new changes and identify the source of the stress. If stress is detected, communicate extensively to find the cause of the stress. Have employees write down their stresses (2) Give employees more control of the situation. An individual sense of control in a situation makes it less stressful. (3) Designate a stress buddy. A person in which others can communicate their stress to; somebody to listen to them which can provide emotional support.

(4) Encourage team communication. After each shift, have employees that work close together talk about the day’s performance. (5) Encourage employees to engage physical fitness activities. Maybe schedule a five minute walk session just before lunch. “Exercise can reduce the negative effects of stress” (6) At the beginning of new changes, have workers concentrate on doing the job productively verses efficiently. Have workers goals focus on quality in the beginning. Quantity will come later.

(1) Create a rewards program that involves reward points for shopping. Use a point system for reaching production goals. Individual employee’s accumulated points can then be redeemed for rewards. These rewards can be various items, such as televisions, cookware, and other items employees would like. The company can keep an in house store of merchandise that its employees will desire and can purchase with their reward points. (2) Have catered lunches. When monthly production goals have been met, the company can provide lunch for the employees. Employees can collectively choose a type of meal and the company can have it catered.

(1) Designate an individual from each workstation to act as a liaison. Pick an individual who is one of the more outgoing types and have that person conduct small meetings with immediate co-workers to discuss operation. The liaison can collect the individual’s ideas on production efficiency and relay them to a designated individual who then communicates the information to upper management.
