POLLUTION, a Curse to Society :

P OLLUTION, a Curse to Society

What is POLLUTION ? :

What is POLLUTION ? In today’s world, every country is trapped in pollution, no one is getting a brilliant idea to cope up with this?

Continued… :

Continued… Pollution is the batter of redundant particles, gases, chemicals, in fresh bodies. Pollution are of many types, but here I as a civil engineer will discuss on water pollution, because it’s a challenge for we civilian to make availability of water before constructing any residential or commercial building.

Water pollution:- :

Water pollution:- The batter of sewage, chemicals, decayed matters, human and animal excreta in fresh water bodies is termed as water pollution.

While keeping some small tips in our mind, we can keep our water fresh and hygienic.   i.e.- ·    Sewage  should be dumped away from the fresh water source. ·  Treated water should only be drained in rivers or lakes. Here Sewage is of two types, ·   The waste water from kitchen ·   The waste water from washrooms and toilet

TYPES OF SEWAGE :

TYPES OF SEWAGE 1. The sewage which are produced from kitchen contains food particles and several other materials which are alkaline in nature. Its PH value is above 7. 2. Secondly , the waste produced from bathroom are acidic in nature, as it contains soaps and detergent water. Its PH value is below 7.

PRECAUTION:- :

PRECAUTION:- We should avoid dumping of influent water in fresh water bodies. Garbage’s should not be dumped in the water. Effluent water should be released in lakes or river.

How influent water is treated?  :

How influent water is treated?   The influent is pumped in treatment plant. Here water is collected and gone through several machinery treatment .   First of all the suspended solid waste is removed from the influent. Then after that another materials such as grease, oil, and lubricant are removed. After that addition of BOD is done After that sedimentation process is done, where sludge is removed and dried in bed for manure and fertilizer. Lastly the treated water is released in river or lakes.

After supplementary treatment these water can be used for irrigation, gardening, curing, and several other uses except potable uses. Through effluent water use, potable water demand would be decreased. Thus we can save potable water on large scale and can be made available to drought areas Lastly , we can say that, we save up to 50% of our daily potable water which we waste in different activities.
