Where Do Balloons Go? An Uplifting Mystery An Internet-Based Literature Lesson Designed by Sarah Eriks Ball State University

Before You Read : 

Before You Read Before you begin reading the book, document where you think balloons go when they are released. Use Webspiration to create a flow chart listing your ideas. The directions for creating your flow chart are on the next slide.

Before You Read : 

Before You Read Go to Webspiration and create an account. Click on “Template Examples” and choose a template or start from scratch to create your idea chart. Name your chart and save it. Now you can edit your chart. Add at least three ideas on where balloons go and at least two pictures to your idea chart. Go to the sharing tab and select “show published URL” copy this link to our class blog site.

While You Read : 

While You Read Read the book Where Do Balloons Go? An Uplifting Mystery. As you read keep track of the ideas the books shares on where balloons go. Post one idea from the book and one original ideas on Wall Wisher. You will be required to create an account before you are able to post on the wall.

After You Read : 

After You Read Click on the picture below to watch a video called “The Balloon Cam”

After You Read : 

After You Read After you have read the book, create another blog entry on our class blog site about all that you have learned from the book and the video you just watched. After you have posted your ideas comment on one of your classmates entry to discuss their ideas.

Beyond What You Read : 

Beyond What You Read Once you have read the story, create a poster on Glogster. Use this site to create your poster displaying three images and your top three ideas on what happens to balloons when they go into the sky. Post a link to your poster on the class blog site.

Additional Activities After you have read, text your knowledge with this word find Watch this short clip from the movie UP! Create a comic about the life of a balloon using this site. Imagine you took a balloon ride far away, write a postcard sharing the details of your journey.
