Nefarious Nouns! Declining a Noun

Step 1 : 

Step 1 ID the declension: - 1st Declension: -a, -ae (f) e.g. puella, -ae (f) – girl - 2nd Declension (masculine): -us/-r, -i (m) e.g. servus, -i (m) – slave puer, -i (m) – boy - 2nd Declension (neuter): -um, -i (n) e.g. templum, -i (n) – temple -3rd Declension (m/f): * (changes with word), - is (m) (f) e.g. vox, vocis (f) – voice homo, hominis (m) – man - 3rd Declension (n): * (changes with word), -is (n) e.g. iter, itineris (n) - journey

Step 2 : 

Step 2 Fill in the stem (chop off the genitive ending – the second form in the dictionary entry – and put it in the boxes): Example (we’ll pick a tough 3rd declension): vox, vocis (f) –voice

Step 3 : 

Step 3 “Glue” on the appropriate endings!

3rd Declension Neuter : 

3rd Declension Neuter If the noun is 3rd declension neuter, then put the first dictionary form in both nominative and accusative singular. e.g. iter, itineris (n) - journey
