Campanella studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Brera in Milan and in cultural centers of important European artists and in 1955 he moved to Buenos Aires. Campanella is considered one of the most prominent surrealist artists worldwide. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. Campanella’s paintings not only defy normal spatial and temporal logic but also challenge the viewer’s perception of touch and texture. In the painting, humans are objectified into instruments themselves, yet they retain a trace of humanity through their soft hands and clothes.

Vito Campanella is an Argentine painter of Italian origin born in Monopoli, Bari on October 17, 1932. Before he became based in Buenos Aires in 1955, Campanella studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Brera in Milan and in cultural centers of important European artists. Campanella is considered one of the most prominent surrealist artists worldwide. Vito has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and his works are shown in major museums and private collections. He is also consistently distinguished with awards on occasions of participating in international exhibitions. Critics call Campanella surreal, but he does not stop to analyse the accuracy of such relief classification. "I have restricted myself to paint, painting relentlessly. I started in any case to remain an impressionist, and even to go through what was later called pop art. "My painting has always been influenced by the Renaissance, perhaps because I was born in Bari, Italy. I made my whole career in Argentina, but undoubtedly the climate of Italian cities was decisive in my painting. Maybe that's why the critics see the same place that is surreal to me, and also note the climate of Renaissance in my work. " Vito Campanella
