Eureka Tower is a 297.3-metre skyscraper located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne. Construction began in August 2002 and the building was officially opened on 11 October 2006. The project was designed by Melbourne architectural firm Fender Katsalidis Architects

Eureka Tower has the second highest apartments in the world, its highest being the 87 th floor penthouse 278.5 meters above ground level. Only the John Hancock Center in Chicago has apartments higher than this. Eureka Tower opened as the second tallest all-residential building in the world, surpassed only by Q1 Tower in Gold Coast City. Residences occupy floors 11 through 80.

Eureka Tower is named after the Eureka Stockade, a rebellion during the Victorian gold rush in 1854. This has been incorporated into the design, with the building's gold crown representing the gold rush and a red stripe representing the blood spilt during the revolt. Level 89 of Eureka Tower contains a public function space and bar, 285.5 meters above the ground. The Eureka Skydeck on level 88 will be 282 meters above ground level, making it the highest public observatory in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere.

The two lifts servicing the observation decks will be the fastest in Australia, travelling at nine meters per second and taking just over 30 seconds from the ground floor lobby.

The blue glass cladding that covers most of the building represents the blue background of the stockade's flag and the white lines also represent the eureka stockade flag.

Tianjin Gardens Lions, Melbourne are a gift from the Municipal Government of Tianjin, People's Republic of China.

In recognition of this relationship, a garden was created at the gateway to Melbourne's Chinatown. The garden also has a water feature with traditional Chinese rockery and a small pavilion.
