There are more than 700 species of Eucalyptus, mostly native to Australia. The Tasmanian Blue Gum was proclaimed as the floral emblem of Tasmania on 27 November 1962. Blue gum is one of the most extensively planted eucalypts. Its rapid growth and adaptability to a range of conditions is responsible for its popularity.
