Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a Baptist minister and leader of the civil-rights movement in America from the Mid-1950’s until his death in 1968. He promoted non-violence to achieve civil-rights reform and was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. :

The Civil Rights Movement::

The Civil Rights Movement: December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks took a stand for her race by refusing to give her seat to a white passenger. This was the catalyst for beginning the Civil Rights Movement. Following this event, King was selected as president of the Montgomery Improvement Association.
