JASMINE EXTRACTION Jasmine concrete and absolute are the valuable perfumery products used in expensive floral perfumes. Jasmine oil and its synthetic substitutes are extensively used in high grade perfumes. The main buyers being U.S.A,U.K,France,Japan,Holland and Russia.

CONCRETE: It is a wax like substance containing the natural flower perfume as a volatile oil,together with some plant waxes and albuminous and colouring matter.250-350 gram of concrete is obtained from 100kg of flowers.

ENFLEURAGE METHOD In this method animal fats are used for extraction Freshly prepared flowers are placed on layers of fat and the trays are stacked one over the other Leave it for few days and continue the procedure for several weeks until the fat layers are saturated with perfume oil Collect all the fatty layers and then melt it which is then extracted with alcohol.

Precautions Jasmine oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and generally non-sensitizing, although some people do have an allergic reaction to the oil. Due to its emmenagogue properties it should not be used in pregnancy. Using too much of this oil could impede concentration, as it is a deeply relaxing oil.
