3 Aim - To compare the in-vitro dissolution profile of two marketed conventional dosage forms. Requirements - Apparatus – beaker, dissolution apparatus, glass rod, spatula, butter paper ,weighing balance. Chemicals- 0.2 M NaOH, potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

5 Preparation of phosphate buffer (7.8) Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.2m: Dissolve 27.218 g of potassium dihydrogen phosphate in water &dilute with water to 1000ml . Sodium hydroxide 0.2M: 8 gm of NaOH in 1000ml water . Phosphate Buffer: Place 50 ml of 0.2M potassium dihydrogen phosphate in 200ml volumetric flask, add 44.5 ml of 0.2M NaOH, then add water to volume .

Procedure for dissolution:

6 Procedure for dissolution Introduce 900ml of phosphate buffer pH 7.8 as the medium. Warm the dissolution medium to between 36.5 O to 37.5 O Allow the tablet or capsule to sink to the bottom of the vessel prior to the rotation of the paddle. Rotate the paddle at 50rpm for 30min.

7 Withdraw a suitable volume of sample and filter promptly through a membrane filter disc with an avg. pore diameter not greater then1.0 µm. Measure the absorbance of the resulting solution at the maximum at about 249nm against respective blanks. %of drug release is calculated at various intervals and plot a graph of %release vs. time.
