Urogenital diaphragm : Urogenital diaphragm Dr. Nazim Nasir ( jr-1 )
Department of Anatomy
JNMC AMU Aligarh.
definition : definition Layer of the pelvis that separates the deep perineal sac from the upper pelvis.
Lying between the inferior fascia of the urogenital diaphragm and superior fascia of the urogenital diaphragm.
Constituents
Deep perineal muscles- sphincter urethrae & deep transverse perinei.
Sup. & inf. Fascia of UGD.
Boundaries of the Perineum : Boundaries of the Perineum Anterior - pubic symphysis (PS)
Posterior - coccyx (C)
Lateral - ischial tuberosities (IT)
Anterolateral - ischiopubic ramus (IPR)
Posterolateral - sacrotuberous ligament
Cutaneous supply : Cutaneous supply Dorsal nerve of penis
Ilioinguinal n. and genital br. of genitofemoral n.
Perineal branch of post. Cut. N. of thigh
Post.scrotal(labial) n.
Perineal br. of pud. N.
Male Urogenital Triangle : Male Urogenital Triangle Fascia is firmly attached to the IPR along the side of the UG triangle and to the posterior free margin of the urogenital diaphragm.
Superficial perineal space : Superficial perineal space Root of penis
Muscles – ischiocavernosus, bulbospongiosus, sup. trans. Perineii
Perineal body
Br. of perineal nerve
Long perineal n.
Br. of perineal A.
Duct of B-U gland
Boundaries of superficial perineal space : Boundaries of superficial perineal space Superficial- Colle’s fascia
Deep- Perineal membrane
On either side- Ischiopubic rami
Ant- Open and continues with the spaces of scrotum and ant. Abd. Wall.
Post- Closed by union of the perineal membrane with the colle’s fascia.
Perineal membrane : Perineal membrane Thick triangular sheet of fascia lying across pubic arch.
Base is continuous-
Above-sup. Fascia of UGD
Below- Colle’s fascia
Midline- Perineal body
On each side- IPR
Ant(apex)- sup. Fascia of UGD.
Structures piercing perineal membrane : Structures piercing perineal membrane Urethra, 1 inch below the pubic symphysis
Ducts of bulbourethral glands, close to urethra.
A. and N. to bulb of penis.
Urethral A.
Deep A. of penis.
Dorsal A. of penis
Post. Scrotal N.s and vessels
Br.s of perineal nerve.
Deep perineal pouch : Deep perineal pouch b/w sup. & inf. Fascia of UGD.
Contents :
Deep transverse perineus muscle
Urethral sphincter
Bulbo-urethral gland (Cowper's gland)
Terminal branches of the internal pudendal artery to the bulb of the penis as well as the deep artery of the penis.
Female Urogenital Triangle : Female Urogenital Triangle
Female Urogenital Triangle : Female Urogenital Triangle After Colles' fascia is removed, identify the structures in the superficial perineal space
ischiocavernosus muscle overlying the crus of the clitoris

PERINEAL BODY(central tendon of perineum) : PERINEAL BODY(central tendon of perineum) Pyramidal fibromuscular mass in the mid-line of the perineum at the junction between the urogenital triangle and the anal triangle.
In males, it is found between the bulb of penis and the anus.
In females, is found between the vagina and anus.
ATTACHMENTS : ATTACHMENTS External anal sphincter.
Bulbospongiosus.
