Introduction to Visualizing Make your writing more vivid and bring it to life for the people who read it. Add description and sensory detail. Brainstorm words related to each of five senses. SENSORY DETAILS Visual detail, Sounds, Smell, Tastes, Feeling.

Demonstrating Visualizing 1 : 

Demonstrating Visualizing 1 Step I Students close their eyes. Students think about their holiday. Examples: A day in the beach. Students imagine what they see, touch, hear, taste, and feel.

Demonstrating Visualizing 2 : 

Demonstrating Visualizing 2 Step II Brainstorm descriptive phrases about “A day at the beach” using sensory details. Visual: Children playing in the sand. a Tastes: Salty water. Sound: Chatter and laughter of children. Smell: Slightly fishy smell. Feeling: Heat of sun on back.

Demonstrating Visualizing 3 : 

Step III Use the sensory words to write a sentence about the “ A day at the beach ”. Demonstrating Visualizing 3 I spent a day at the beach with my friend. Children was playing in the sand. I could hear chatter and laughter of children. There were slight fishy smell. The water tasted like salt water. I felt a heat of sun on back.

Guided Practice 1 Think about the topic “ A day at the mountain ” and write your draft based on 5 sensory details (students can draw small pictures beside your sentence).

Guided Practice 2 With your partner, please read each other’s paragraph and write correction. Share with the class.

Review with Sensory details Reflect on what you have learned and how you can use sensory words in your writing. Brainstorm for more sensory words. Read your sentence (a day at the mountain) again and add more description. Review with Sensory details.

Apply It … Write 5 sentences to describe “A day at the ” You can choose any place to make 5 sentences. Exchange your paper with your partner. Make circle all of the sensory details in your partner’s writing. Share with the class. Apply
