What is GCR###

The Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) is the assessment of the comparative strengths and weaknesses of national economies. First published in 1979. Ranking based on Global Competitiveness Index (GCI). Coverage extends to 134 major and emerging economies.

Slide 6:

Developed for the World Economic Forum (WEF) by Professor Xavier Sala-i-Martin of Columbia University. Officially launched in September 2006 as part of The GCR 2006-2007. It is made up of over 113 variables. The Global Competitiveness Index (GCI)

Slide 7:

Two thirds come from the Executive Opinion Survey and one third comes from publicly available sources. The variables are organized into 12 pillars.
