Observe correct temperature storage as per drug requirements- monitor fridge temps.
Discard if wet, no label or label not legible
Vaccines stored 2oC -8oC
Dedicated fridge or section fridge for vaccines only. With own electrical power point ( not on multiple adaptor) OPEN VIAL POLICY & STORAGE VACCINES

cont Observe first in first out policy –FIFO and stock rotation.
No vaccines in veg storage area or door of fridge –temp difficult to control there.
Store vaccine in original outer wrapper –don’t throw away box .
Keep stock up to date but don’t hoard so it expires needlessly.
Any vial thought to be exposed to non-sterile procedure for withdrawal –discard.
BCG :
BCG Only has 6 hour life after opening. Vigilance on opening a vial.
No BCG to sick baby, give later when well
No BCG if older than 1 year- e.g. BBA child
IF MOTHER REFUSES IMMUNIZATION – counsel but you cant give without permission.
Educate mother on side effects vaccines & management
