Summary :

Summary The Recommendation: Feed the Fish Rationale: Interesting concept Educational value Well-rounded plan General consensus Other Top Options: Role-playing video game Mini-Architects Spin it!

Feed The Fish :

Feed The Fish Components: Tank Food and pollutants (embedded with RFID chips) Concept: Feed the fish or pollute its tank The fish will become fat or sick or healthy depending on the items.

Feed The Fish (2) :

Feed The Fish (2) How it works: Soft “food” and “pollutant” items contain RFID chips that provide information about each item. The reader interprets the RFID chips of the items placed in the tank and changes the fish’s appearance.

Alternatives :

Alternatives We considered many options, including: A quiet zone where if you didn’t move slowly through, you’d trip motion sensors and alarms will sound A dish return that would inform the children whether they were wasting food A tube that would tell kids what chemical elements were in a specific substance placed in the tube A food mart where kids could ring up food on a register, then pay with an RFID credit card The alternatives we chose are explained in the following slides

Spin It! :

Spin It! Enhance gear wall with modules Triggered if the sensors in them detect a certain motion of gears and will give some sort of feedback For example, sound, light, or a bird coming out Feedback involves a transfer of energy. Incorporate the idea of home-made electricity generator involving magnets and conducting wire and the gears.
