Familiarize yourself with the presidents, their terms, and any and all notable things they accomplished during their presidency to give yourself an overall picture of that time period.2. Memorize the major supreme court cases.3. Be familiar with important compromises and acts.4. Know what certain political parties stood for.5. Acquire general knowledge about important events such as wars and movements such as the civil rights movement and the feminist movement. Pay Attention In Class : Pay Attention In Class Regardless of how dull you believe a chapter is, the most important and vital method to pass AP U.S. History is to pay attention. Here are a few key points in order to project your attention onto the subject matter: -You first must jot down notes on points that you seem to find important. Reading the textbook and understanding what you are reading is vital to passing the class, as well. There have been many good ones including Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, U-571, and Gettysburg. These movies are not always 100% accurate, but they do give a change and keep you from getting bored and tired of the APUSH grind. You will be surprised to see how much you know when you come back to watch these movies after you covered the material. Those subtle allusions in the movies the directors like to throw in, you will suddenly be able to understand them. The Essays : The Essays The DBQ = Document-Based Question - This is the longer essay but it is easier to write due to the documents providing facts and dates pertaining to that question. The FRQ = Free-Response Question - These are shorter but there are two of them. These may be easier for some people because their not bound to use the documents or harder for some because they forgot the material that the question is asking for Essays, Cont. : Essays, Cont. But they are both equally easy, you don’t need to write an amazing essay that is worthy of a nobel prize or anything. You just need answer the question and support your thesis.
