A report that shows a student’s progress toward major learning goals that are aligned with K-6 Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in each subject Communicate more precise information regarding students’ knowledge and skills to parents and other teachers Separate knowledge goals from non-academic factors What’s the difference? : What’s the difference? Why change? : Why change? To provide more consistency between teachers because all students are evaluated on the same grade-appropriate objectives. To allow parents to see exactly which skills and knowledge their child has learned to date, including areas of strength and weakness To document skills and behaviors that support learning. Who was involved in developing these report cards? : Who was involved in developing these report cards? Forty two teachers from across Union 61, representing every school, worked on grade-alike teams to develop the ACADEMIC STANDARDS for the report card All teachers in the district were surveyed to develop the HABITS OF MIND/HABITS OF WORK for their grade level Special education teachers from each elementary school reviewed the report cards Report Card Development Teams met monthly from September 2009-March 2010. How will this help my child? : How will this help my child? You will know precisely which skills or knowledge your child has mastered and what she needs to work on You will know precisely which habits of mind and habits of work your child demonstrates or does not demonstrate consistently Target assistance to those areas of need Provide specific, rather than general, encouragement to your child Allows the child to see growth in a particular area that comes through targeted effort What should I expect to see on the new report card? : What should I expect to see on the new report card?
