CREATION OF FIVE DISTRICTS Last December 9, 2008, Glan was divided into three districts namely; North Glan, Central Glan and South Glan. Kiamba was split into two – the East Kiamba and West Kiamba last May 19, 2009. The Division of Sarangani is now composed of 13 Districts.

ESTABLISHMENT OF LIBRARY HUB : 

In 2003, the Department of Education launched the Library Hub Project as one of its innovative initiatives. The project aims to develop the love for and habit of reading among public school pupils and students through building a warehouse of supplementary reading materials called the LIBRARY HUB. The Division has established two Library Hubs located at Kawas Elementary School and Kiamba Central Elementary School. ESTABLISHMENT OF LIBRARY HUB

Kawas Elementary School These days, the rehabilitation is still on going. The tiled floor (hallway and inside), fully finished walls, installed ceiling and electrical wirings mark the 85% completion of the hub. By the end of October 2009, as the library hub personnel will be assigned and the equipment the library hub is expected to be functional. 7 municipalities are recipients of eLearning Hub. DepEd Sarangani provides 60 units of PCs for the 6 municipalities at 10 PCs each (Maitum, Kiamba, Maasim, Glan, Alabel & Malungon) while Malapatan receives 1 PC, however, Malapatan District is a recipient of 16 units of PCs from EQuALLS2 project which was distributed to Malapatan Central Elementary School (8) ,Datu Pangolima ES (2), PH Millona ES (2), Lun Padidu ES (2), and Libi ES (2). The ICT equipment is in compliance with the specs identified in DO No. 28 s. 2009 “Guidelines in Accepting ICT Equipment and Internet Access Services for Classroom Instruction and Administrative Use” ESTABLISHMENT OF eLEARNING HUB

Technical Vocational Schools : 

Three (3) existing Tech Voc Schools (GSAT, Kling NHS, Malalag NHS) 6 secondary school are applying (Alabel NHS, Malandag NHS, Banate NHS, Colon NHS, Kiamba NHS, Malalag Cogon NHS) Mangelen Integrated School is proposing to become Tech Voc School in Maasim 43 teachers with National Certificate 2 Technical Vocational Schools

PROGRAMS UNDER QUEST : 

PROGRAMS UNDER QUEST ARAL TAYO (Alabel’s Response to Achievement and Literacy Towards Attaining Aspirations of Youth) It was launched last September 10, 2007. Alabel Central Elementary School (ACES) was the pilot school. It aims to assess Grade 1 pupils of their reading abilities through Synergeia activities. This program is now on its 2nd year of implementation.

CLASS ROM (Comprehensive Learning Assistance and Support for Schoolers) A Grade I Reading Program involving parents in mentoring their children and is monitored by classroom teachers. The program was launched last July 4, 2008 at Kiamba, Sarangani and was headed by Hon. Romel Tomas M. Falgui, Kiamba Municipal Mayor.

AS A FILIPINO The Union Bank Quest has evolved into As A Filipino Learning System: Developmental Reading Integrated with Values Education for Good Citizenship As A Filipino. Its target is to produce independent readers since Reading is a survival skill – If you cannot read, you cannot learn. The beneficiaries of this program are the Grade 2 pupils of the three Districts of Malungon. Its implementation period starts during the third grading period, November 2008 to February 2009.

OTHER READING PROGRAMS : 

BUKLAT AKLAT MOBILE LIBRARY PROJECT In February 1998, National Book Store, Inc. (NSBI), Anvil Publishing, Inc. and the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) launched the Buklat Aklat Mobile Library Project. The objective of the project was to encourage reading among children ages 5 to 12 and instill in them the love for reading particularly during the formative period. Summer Reading Program A province-wide partnership between the Department of Education and the Sangguniang Kabataan Sarangan youths aged 15 and above to mentor identified at-risk schoolchildren entering Grade 3 Participation of 110 schools. Result of the sampling of 375 students in 12 schools:

FLAMESFamily Learning Activity in Mathematics, English and Science : 

Last July 9, 2009, we distributed instructional materials intended for FLAMES activities. There were also simulation in the use of instructional materials. Organized English, Science and Math Officers. Each set of officers is required to submit the proposed project to enhance academic performance. Science Projects & Programs : 

Tree Planting / Growing / Caring Program Division Launching – “Kalinga sa Kalikasan para sa Kabataan or 3Ks Program” A Division wide launching up to the Different schools of the 13 districts (224 Elem. Schools 29 regular high schools & 18 integrated schools 21,240 trees were planted during the launching last Sept 4, 2009 For sustainability: @ Planting will be quarterly @ Every pupil / student will propagate, care 4 seedlings for the whole school year (from Grades 1 – 6 and 1st – 4th year) To further enhance the program: # Division – fruit bearing Trees Nursery is to be put-up this end of September Science Projects & Programs

Science Intervention & Enrichment : 

ESLA – Elementary Science Learning Activities All schools have copies with the Grade III ESLA – this is a division intervention, especially with the science activities for Grade III For Grade IV-VI – write shops is on going Science Grade I and II Integration Grades 1 and 2 teachers were given a focus time in teaching science. Not only for integration but on concentration especially in Grade 2 (20-30 min. Concentration) Enriched Science Curriculum in Public Secondary Schools 16 schools have their Revised Class Program depicting the enrichment session To ensure its implementation: there is monitoring and observation of classes & Division coordinators extended assistance in the field Issues & Concern: no competent teachers to handle the subjects Science Intervention & Enrichment

Food for School Program 4th Implementation : 

FSP (Rice Distribution) is one component of “Malusog Na Simula, Yaman ng Bansa” Objectives 1. To mitigate hunger 2. ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM Highlights of Accomplishments:   The total cost in the implementation of the project was Three Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Pesos Only (P325,000.00). The largest part of it went to the honorarium of the facilitators for Basic Literacy Classes. Then, Literacy Cum Livelihood and Continuing Education Program. Others went to monitoring and Evaluation, In-Service Training (INSET) and learning supplies for the learners.

IMPLEMENTATION OF TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM (TIP) : 

IMPLEMENTATION OF TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM (TIP) Conducted the TIP Training last May 12-13 (Batch 1) and May 14-15, 2009 (Batch 2) at Alabel National High School. 398 teachers attended the said training. Trainees were attentively listening to their lecturer and answering the assessment test in every end of the session. Conducted the TIP Recognition Day for the TIP Assessment Test passers last May 28, 2009 at Provincial Gymnasium. The TIP Assessment Test was administered last February 6, 2009 at Alabel National High School. One of the passers happily received her Certificate of Proficiency. SDS Adrales and ASDS Dela Cruz congratulated the passers with glee and pride.

16th DepEd Sarangani Foundation Anniversary : 

August 6, 2009 – Gawad Parangal, stakeholders were given recognition for the support to education sector. At the same time, school project proposals has been adopted by the stakeholders 16th DepEd Sarangani Foundation Anniversary August 7, 2009 – Anniversary Program Presentation of Accomplishment through a State of the Division Address by the Schools Division Superintendent

World Teachers’ Day : 

Activities: Organized Federated Teachers’ Association in the division both public & private schools in elementary and secondary level.
