STATEMENT OF A BUSINESS EXECUTIVE TRAINEE:
STATEMENT OF A BUSINESS EXECUTIVE TRAINEE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Slide 5:
A business executive trainee had joined this steel plant about 3 months back as an Executive Trainee (Personnel) and have been placed in the Head Office , about 5 kms from the factory. Just yesterday , I had to go to the Factory for some work and it was the first time I had seen it while in operation. And ,I got the shock of my life when I saw the working condition inside the factory. The noise, the heat ,the fumes and the pace of work was terrible. I could not stand it even for half an hour and I wonder how these workmen tolerate it day, year after year.
Slide 6:
After returning to my air-conditioned luxurious office at Head Office I voiced my concern to one my colleagues. How do they physically stand it ?,I asked her She replied –They get though as time goes on. And moreover, when they cannot tolerate it anymore, they fall seriously ill once or twice a year. That’s the usual routine that I’ve seen. I was shaken by their condition and asked her if there was any way we could do anything about it. She advised me to just concentrate on my work, for I was too new and too small a try to make any impact. Moreover, in India, the working condition in most factories are similar to ours .
Slide 7:
Is it ethical to keep quite after all and see workers fail ill one after another, during the year? OR Is it more ethical to try to do something, even if it is sure to end in failure ,try to make someone difference in the lives of all these workmen, and in the process, try toregenerate some awareness and awakening to their own plight?
Slide 9:
Thanks for listening and have a nice day.
