A population is all the organisms that both belong to the same group or species and live in the same geographical area . population refers to a collection of human beings. Demography is a social science which entails the statistical study of human populations. Facts… Current population of India is 1.22% billion which account for 17.31% of world’s population. These 1.22 billion people are unevenly distributed over our country’s vast area of 3.28 million square km. India is 2 nd most populous country in the world which comes after china. but in are wise its come in 7 th position which shows India is densely populated.

Population growth Growth of Population refers to the change in the number of inhabitants of a country during a specific period of time. Statical analysis shows that our population is rapidly increasing day by day .

Process of population change Birth rate:- it is the number of live births per thousand person in a year. Death rate:- it is the number of deaths per thousand person in a year. According to the census it has been found that birth rates are always higher than the death rates in India. Migration:- it is the movement of people across regions and territories. It can be internal or international.
