Each class has been responsible for a different aspect of this Christian festival. We hope that you will enjoy it. Christmas Culture BoxesPowerPoint Presentation: Christmas is an annual event which occurs on the 25 th December. It is a time to spend time with our loved ones, eat tasty food, pull crackers and to give presents. We celebrate Christmas to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. In schools at this time of year, children act out the story of the Nativity.PowerPoint Presentation: Your Text Here Ten things which make us think of Christmas Christmas Decorations Gifts Christingles Games Snow Father Christmas Christmas Trees Family and Friends Natvity CrackersReception: Christmas Decorations: We have made lots of fun Christmas crafts. Reception: Christmas Decorations We visited Santa Claus at his grotto. We listened to Christmas stories and sang Christmas songs . Santa tree decorations Shiny collage and tissue paper snowmen Handprint robins We learnt about Jesus and the Christmas story. We collaged characters from the story. Christmas story and song time We tell Santa what we would like from himYear 1: Gifts: Christmas is a time to give and receive gifts The wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh when Jesus was born. ( Gold was an expensive gift fit for a king. Frankincense was burned when people worshipped God and Myrrh was used as a perfume. Christians give gifts at Christmas time just as the three wise men did) Class 1 have come up with some ideas about what they would have given to Jesus when he was born. Year 1: Gifts I would give Jesus royal slippers because he is a king! By Jak I would give Jesus a cot because all he had was a manger to sleep in! By Mia I would give Jesus a special silver rattle! By MaxYear 2: Christingles: We made Christingles , a traditional Christmas decoration. The orange represents the world. The red ribbon represents Jesus’ blood which he shed for us. The four cocktail sticks and sweets show that Jesus provides good things for us all around the world. The candle is Jesus – the light of the world. Year 2: ChristinglesYear 3: Games: Year 3: Games Where is Santa? We made a winter wonderland First we stuck cotton wool on Then we added the pictures Lastly we put the grid on Pass the Parcel When the music stops you open a layer of paper. If the prize falls out you win. If not play again How to play. To play you have pick a letter and a number to find Santa. The winning answer is kept in an envelope until the end.Year 4: Snow: Year 4: Snow Our winter topic is snow. We made an enormous snowman out of tissue paper and cotton wool . We gave it a scarf, a hat, and some buttons. This photograph was taken in the snow last winter. This is a Christmas card from the Victorian times. The Christmas tree was first introduced to Britain by George III, however, it's adoption by the wider public was fairly limited until after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert. It must be said though that the practice of decorating trees has been around for centuries. Oliver Cromwell is reported to have spoken out against decorated trees in the 16th Century!
