Comprehensible Input:

Comprehensible Input Journaling is a way to break down that barrier as it forces students to organize their thoughts in English. ESOL Strategies Students will open their journals (made by me) to complete the prompts/sentence stems “It is good to be bilingual because...”. The students will also write their sentence on a const. paper leaf so that they can share them with the class. I have created a tree that we will add the leaves to in the closing/review section of the class.

Practice/Application Students Practice all 4 Language Skills Journal strategy is being demonstrated- Students choose a butterfly and write their names on the butterfly. After they add their leaf to the tree and every student has had a chance, I will then reinforce their work and praise them by adding their butterfly around the tree next to their leaf. This will be considered individual praise for the students. I will make sure to use the students name in the praise.
