A Standards Based Report Card:

A Standards Based Report Card Is a reporting system that is designed to inform parents about their child’s progress towards meeting learning standards. Shows student’s progress toward mastering standards from the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Details specific information about students’ knowledge and skills on standards to parents and other teachers.

Why FPS are switching to standards based :

Why FPS are switching to standards based Standards based report cards will provide consistency between teachers and schools by aligning standards Parents will see exactly what standards their child has learned and understand strengths and weaknesses Teacher will know what standards students need assistance with and can target weaknesses.

What trimester marking periods are:

What trimester marking periods are With trimester marking period students will receive 3 report cards a year. This gives teachers a better opportunity to access their students The marking periods are : Trimester 1 December 9, 2011 Trimester 2 March 16, 2012 Trimester 3 June 11, 2012

Who was involved in creating the Standards based report cards for FPS The committee included teachers and administration from every elementary school in Fitchburg There were teachers from each grade level included, ranging from Kindergarten to 4 th grade

Traditional student receives one grade for each subject gives an average score, which shows all standards as a whole Standards-based subject areas divided into standards and students receive marks for each standard shows students’ progress toward mastery, and gives information on what a child knows or needs to improve on Indicates what students should know and be able to do as a result of teaching and learning How SBRC’s are different from traditional report cards
