Every Christian Ought to Know:

Every Christian Ought to Know The Bible is the Word of God

Why Does it Matter?:

Why Does it Matter? 2 Timothy 3:16 – 17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the Man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone that believeth; to the Jew first but also to the Greek.” The Word of God, containing the gospel of Christ, is the only way men may be saved. 2 Timothy 3:15 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

A Firm Foundation:

A Firm Foundation Salvation is by grace through faith but we must understand what we have faith in. God’s Word is the only real link we have to Him and our only way of communication with Him. Even before prayer, the scriptures are the primary message carriers from God to us.

Empirical Evidence:

Empirical Evidence Scientific Accuracy: The Bible, in spite of secular humanism, is shown to be scientifically accurate, often even before men are aware of it. While the ancient Greeks believed the world to be supported on the shoulders of a giant and the ancient Hindus purported the notion that it rested on elephants, snakes, and turtles, the Bible tells us that God hung the Earth in the Heavens. Job 26:7 “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.” We take for granted that the Earth is suspended in space because we have all seen the photographs from the moon and from orbit. Job did not have that luxury. He believed because he was inspired by God

Empirical Evidence:

Empirical Evidence The Earth is round. We know because, once again, we have the benefit of seeing it from outside. However, even as late as 1492 there was concern that Colombus would sail off the edge. Isaiah 40:22 “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:” Secularist will tell us that the circle of the Earth is not meant to say the Earth is round but the word used in the ancient scriptures is the Hebrew chuwg which means not circle but globe or sphere.

Empirical Evidence:

Empirical Evidence Blood is necessary for the continuation of life. We know because science has advanced to the point that we can see, via X-rays, NMR, and other diagnostic tools, exactly where the blood flows and how it works. Even as late as the 1700’s people believed that bad blood caused disease and their response was to allow blood to drain from the body. George Washington, our first president, was likely killed by his attending physicians who bled him until he weakened and died trying to cure his alilments . Had the doctors read the old testament they would have known that the blood is the life of the flesh. Leviticus 17:14 “For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof…”

Empirical Evidence:

Empirical Evidence The Bible is the Word of God, according to our author, because of it’s historical accuracy. No one had ever heard of King Belshazzar of Babylon. He saw the writing on the wall, was weighed in the balance and found wanting. Everyone assumed that Nebonitus was the final king of Babylon. Prior to 1854 Belshazzar was a cause for ridiculing the Bible. According to current wisdom, he did not exist. However according to the Nabonidus Cylinder , Nabonidus petitions the god Sin as follows: "And as for Belshazzar my firstborn son, my own child, let the fear of your great divinity be in his heart, and may he commit no sin; may he enjoy happiness in life". In addition, The Verse Account of Nabonidus (British Museum tablet 38299) states: "[ Nabonidus ] entrusted the army (?) to his oldest son, his first born, the troops in the country he ordered under his command. He let everything go, entrusted the kingship ( Akk . šarrûtu ) to him, and, himself, he started out for a long journey. How silly those scoffers look from our present perspective.

Empirical Evidence:

Empirical Evidence Prophecy Fulfilled is another powerful proof of the veracity of the scriptures. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. What was reported in Matthew 2: 1 – 5 was predicted in Micah 5:2. Micah lived and wrote 700 years before Jesus was born and yet he accurately predicted and wrote down details that later proved scrupulously true. Jesus was crucified on a cross. David prophesied in Psalms 22, written just about a thousand years exactly prior to the events described in the gospels. He even described how the soldiers gambled for Jesus’ garments at the foot of the cross. In David’s day, no one crucified criminals. It hadn’t been invented yet. The Jews stoned them to death. David would have no reason to come up with this sort of story except under divine inspiration.

The REAL Proof:

The REAL Proof All of these facts are wonderful and a source of joy and affirmation for the Christian. In the end, they mean nothing. The real proof of the origin and authenticity of the scriptures is found in their power. The Word of God changes people. The Christian should know that the Word of God is real because of its work in their life. If you are truly a Christian then you should not have to wonder. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ , he is a new creature : old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new .” The Bible contains supernatural, unexplainable power. People who read it allow themselves to sawn in half before denying it. They prefer to be burned at the stake rather than recant their belief in it. People surrender their lives, their worldly goods, their reputations, and everything they are or ever will be rather than their belief in the power of the word and what it has done in them.

How Can I know what You Know :

How Can I know what You Know The Christian should know because of the renewing power of the word in their lives. For the unsaved, it is impossible to know. A man dropped a big rock on his foot. Another man said “That looked like it hurt.” The first man dropped the rock on the second man’s foot and said “Did it hurt like it looked?” An electrician can measure voltage and amps all day. He can hook up meters and test circuits for ever but if you REALLY want to know where the power is….

GRAB A WIRE!!!:

GRAB A WIRE!!! GRAB A WIRE!!!

Read and You Will See for Yourself:

Read and You Will See for Yourself Luke 11:9 “ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek , and ye shall find ; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” The Word of God is personal. Its effect is real just like an electric shock. If you really want to know you have to find out for yourself. Read it.
