The Inspiration To honor her life, Katie’s parents, Denise and Jason Herb, have made it their life mission to assist families suffering from the emotional and financial stress of a congenital heart defect by founding the Katie Herb Foundation, Inc.

 February is Congenital Heart Defect awareness month. : 

 February is Congenital Heart Defect awareness month. Did You Know?  Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect and the leading cause of birth-defect related deaths worldwide.  Congenital heart defects affect more than 40,000 babies a year.

The Mission : 

The Mission The Katie Herb Foundation is a public, non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation that generates awareness of congenital heart defects, including HLHS. The foundation assists in funding financial grants, educational opportunities, and medical research for those touched now and in the future by congenital heart defects.

Our Events : 

Our Events In perfect weather, the 2nd annual Katie Kup was held on June 28, 2009. Although the turnout was smaller than Katie Kup 08, the foundation was able to raise over $9,000. That’s $2,000 more than the year before. Thank you to all our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and players for making this another successful golf outing. We hope to see you all again at KK10.

Our Events A Day at the Ballpark with the Harrisburg Senators On August 16, 2009, the Katie Herb Foundation was invited to the Harrisburg Senators’ ballpark to participate in its Organization of the Day. We were given a booth, we got to talk about the foundation over the loudspeaker, and we also threw out the first pitch.

The Katie Herb Scholarship : 

The Katie Herb Scholarship The Katie Herb Foundation provides financial assistance to students who are living with a congenital heart defect based on a student’s demonstrated academic achievement, activities, and community involvement. The scholarships are made possible through the generous contributions from our supporters.

The 2009 Winner is… : 

The 2009 Winner is… Sullivan “Sully” Bard of East Waterford, PA, was named the first recipient of the Katie Herb Foundation College Scholarship. He is a freshman at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, where he studies art.
