What is Web 2.0?: :

What is Web 2.0?: The term "Web 2.0" refers to a perceived second generation of web development and design that aims to facilitate communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. –Wikipedia Facilitates a “two-way street” idea of the web. The term was coined in 2004 by Dale Dougherty and Craig Cline. Initial applications were business oriented. Educators subsequently commandeered and developed many additional applications.

Goals: :

Goals: Identify challenges unique to the private school setting. Share what has been attempted by the presenters. Demonstrate both successes and attempts which were less successful. Give attendees a few tools they can get excited about and try out for themselves. Encourage attendees and keep from overwhelming them with too much information.

Challenges of Web 2.0: :

Challenges of Web 2.0: Security—How do we ensure the security of our students? How do we enforce existing acceptable use policies in a new environment? Existing tools—How can we integrate the free, cool tools with existing subscriptions or purchases? How do we adapt what we may have seen others doing so that it works for us, our students and faculty? Advertising—Is there any way to work around this? Filters—Are there any options for schools utilizing filters? Time—How do we get time to work with students on these great ideas?
