Volunteerism : 

Volunteerism - an opportunity for maximum citizen’s participation or involvement in the community-based rehabilitation of clients.

Legal Bases : 

Legal Bases Section 28 of Presidential Decree 968 (Probation Law) authorizing the PPA Administrator to appoint Volunteer Probation Aide. E.0. 468 dated October 11, 2005-Revitalizing the VPA Agenda of the PPA

Basic Principles of Volunteerism : 

Basic Principles of Volunteerism A Volunteer Probation Aide must be a person who can serve as a living example and inspiration to the clients whom he/she will be assigned to supervise. “One cannot give what he/she does not have” The VPA shall serve in an organized way and shall assist with utmost fidelity in the fulfillment of the vision, mission and goals of the Agency. The VPA shall perform in the spirit of genuine service, without expecting any material return.

The VPA shall be a self-reliant person who performs his job in the spirit of genuine service for country and fellowmen, and therefore, does not expect any material return for said service as a volunteer.

Qualifications of VPA : 

Qualifications of VPA Must be a Filipino citizen Must be thirty-five years old and above Must be resident of the community where his/her client resides Must have adequate and stable income and willing to serve without compensation

Duties of a VPA Supervises maximum of five clients Submits monthly reports Works in close consultation and coordination with officer-on-case Keep all information about the client in strict confidentiality

The VPA-PPO relationship : 

The VPA-PPO relationship The VPA and the PPO have a common mission – to rehabilitate offenders There must be an element of mutual trust, understanding and respect Both should work hand-in-hand with high level of professionalism and honesty

The VPA-PPO relationship : 

Both are role models to the clients The VPA and the PPO maintain openness The VPA regularly consults the PPO The PPO is the mentor of the VPA The VPA-PPO relationship
