Production & Post Harvest Scenario:

Production & Post Harvest Scenario Agriculture contributes about 13% of GDP, employs 57 % workforce and sustains approx over 65 % of the population India produces about 260 million tons of food grains and more than 285 million tons of fruits and vegetables and ranks second in world Low level of processing of fruits and vegetables at only 3-5% and losses range from 6 - 18 %. Food processing is employment intensive, creates 1.8 jobs directly and 6.4 indirectly for every US$ 25000 investment

Agro Processing in Production Catchment :

Agro Processing in Production Catchment Can provide processed food of highest quality at affordable cost to consumers Help environment by processing food in production catchment with least food miles Ensure traceability of raw materials used for processed product hence great for export and elite urban market. Help effective backward linkage with farmers for processing their raw produce Shorten the supply chain, increase the profitability of farmers and ultimately increase in GDP from agriculture and reduce poverty Reduce post harvest losses and increased availability of by products for further processing.

Copra Manufacture Ball Copra – Rs 103/kg Grade A Copra – Rs. 80/kg and Milling Copra- Rs. 60/kg

Coconut Novel Value Added Products Milk: Kernel chopping and cream extraction Nuts are deshelled, pared and then routed to a chopper that assures a very fine particle size. The chopped kernel is sent to the helicoidal extractors or pulpers where the coconut cream is extracted. It can be further processed as virgin cocnut oil or tetrapacked in 200 ml packs to consumers Water: extraction and filtration Coconuts are perforated and positioned to recover water. Extracted coconut water is fed to a filtration system to remove the fragments of the shell originated by the perforation process. The product is extremely sensitive and should be immediately cooled down to 2-4°C in order to avoid microbiological and chemical changes.

Virgin Coconut Oil Chopper Extractor Separator Produced from fresh coconut meat, virgin coconut oil, is the natural pure oil consumed for various health related issues and for cosmeceutical purposes. The coconut flour is used for making healthy cookies

Tender Coconut Processing It is a pure and nutritious beverage in the natural state. The  coconut  husk is an excellent package for the  water  which contains sugars, minerals, amino acids and vitamins.  Tender coconut water  is a natural source of electrolytes, minerals, vitamins, complex carbohydrates, Amino acids and other nutrients. It is is very creamy and gelatinous and considered a functional food.

CPCRI Method of Neera Collection Neera  is a sweet oyster white, translucent, and highly nutritious extract collected by slicing the spathes of  coconut trees. It is a sugar containing juice and a rich natural source of minerals, vitamins and amino acids. Neera tapping is 8–10 times more profitable than selling nuts. A tapper earns more than twice otherwise that of a field worker per day with employment throughout the year. a, Spadix inserted through the spadix holder. b, View of completely closed system. c, Coco-sap chiller connected to the tree crown.

Cryogenic Grinding of Spices :

Cryogenic Grinding of Spices The capacity grinder is 30 to 50 kg/h The grinding system consists of a self-pressurized liquid nitrogen cylinder of 185 litre capacity, Cryo-precooler of capacity 30-50 kg/h. All contact parts of machine are made of stainless steel. The ground spice is collected through cyclone system and immediately sieved into different grades. Product with natural flavour & all medicinal attributes is obtained.

Spice and Herb Tablets:

Spice and Herb Tablets Turmeric (b) Coriander (c) Black pepper (d) Fenugreek Different spice tablets were prepared in combination with trace amount of starch/gum acacia, salt etc., with cryo-ground spice powders. Spice tablet were packed (blister) for safe handling and usage. Tablets can be prepared for different formulations and can be used whenever needed. The essential volatiles are not lost during storage period.

Alternate Processing of Arecanut :

Alternate Processing of Arecanut Powdered areca nut  is used as a constituent in some dentifrices. Other traditional  uses  include the removal of tapeworms and other intestinal parasites by swallowing a few teaspoons of  powdered areca nut , drunk as a decoction, or by taking tablets containing the extracted alkaloids.

Processing of Cashewnut Brokens :

Processing of Cashewnut Brokens Cashews  can be finely  powdered  or coarsely  powdered  in a grinder. Fine  powder  can be sprinkled on any sweet preparation. It can be quickly used for making  cashew  paste,  Cashew  milk. Coarse  cashew powder  can be used to make desserts like sheera and halwa. Kaju Katali and other cashew powder using sweets are becoming popular
