It involves: 1. The goals to be pursued. 2. The programmes, services offered to accomplish the goals. 3. Mode of organizing and utilizing the resources needed – people, money, expertise, facilities etc. WHAT IS STRATEGIC PLANNING ? Identification of Agro-eco situations (AES) in the district with ‘SAU’ and departments Identification and selection of representative village(s) under each ‘AES’ for collection of data / information through participatory approaches Slide 10: Constitution of ‘AES’ teams representing Block Level Functionaries, Scientists of ‘SAU’ and NGOs. Training of ‘AES’ teams on team building, participatory tools, FSA/FSBE concepts, sustainability issues - NRM, IPM, INM, etc. Identification and analysis of Success Stories, Major Farming Systems, technological gaps and ITKs. Contd… Slide 13: Conduct SWOT for major farming system in each AES Find out the possible research and extension issues as per the farmers’ needs On the basis of prioritized issues district research and extension strategies will be developed • Check the information with project objectives and requirements • Compare with secondary data • Identify critical issues, problems, needs, opportunities and threats in perspective of district, state and national priorities. Slide 14: Activity schedule for each of the strategy will be developed at district level ATMA management committee will scrutinize the District Action Plan with on going schemes (convergence) Approval of SREP and District Action Plan by G.B.
