One of the most common modes of transportation in and out of Singapore is by taxi. Conversely, in the route towards Singapore, taxis may be taken from Larkin taxi and Bus terminal in Johor bahru, Malaysia to any point in central Singapore or Changi Airport . The principal advantage of this Cross Border taxi service between Singapore and Malaysia is that you don’t need to carry your stuff or present yourself through customs at both ends, you can just sit in the car, and the service is available 24 hours a day.

The most basic taxi service from the Singapore taxi terminal at Queen St. (5 mins walk away from Bugis MRT) to Johor Bahru taxi terminal at Larkin (Previously Pasar Bakti Kotaraya II) fares SG $12 per person and SG $48 per single taxi departing from Singapore and vice- versa.

If you intend to take a taxi from Ban St. Taxi terminal (Queen Street near bugis MRT) to somewhere other than the terminal at Johor Bahru , you’ll have to use Malaysian yellow Taxi and the fare will be at least SG $70 depending on distance and destination. Similarly, if you want to go from Larkin Taxi and Bus terminal to anywhere in Singapore, you need to take a Singaporean Taxi and pay at least SG$70 for the service. Taxis may also be booked to reach you from anywhere at Singapore to Larkin Taxi and Bus terminal or from anywhere in JB to Ban street taxi terminal at Queen Street. Be sure to check on the taxi’s number, the driver’s name and phone number.

A permutation of rides from anywhere in Singapore to anywhere in Malaysia can also be arranged but you’ll need to change cabs halfway through, this will cost SG $ 80 more, you’ll need to pay it to the Singaporean taxi driver who will arrange with his Malaysian taxi counterpart to wait at Larkin. The more convenient but a little expensive option is to hire a private limousine specially licensed to take passengers from anywhere to any point, but they are a rarity and prices starts from SG$100 to Johor Bahru City.

Visa On Arrival (VOA): Visa on Arrival for Indian and Chinese tourists is available at Sultan Abu Bakr Customs, Immigration and quarantine complex at second link via Tuas checkpoint. Voa is expected to take 10 mins depending on the traffic, a seven day visa costing SG$130 will be given to you which cannot be extended.
