Case study 1: Team reflexive accounts :

Case study 1: Team reflexive accounts We are doing a qualitative study of doctor -patient communication regarding prescribing in general practice out of doctor’s complaints about patients demanding prescriptions and patients complaints regarding over prescription and poor communication by the doctor. Our research aim is to explore the reason for this paradox and design and evaluate educational interventions.

Case study 2: Working with emotional data :

Case study 2: Working with emotional data We are doing a qualitative study about mothers with disabilities acquired from trauma such as motor vehicle accidents, physical abuse, drug abuse ,and as a result of violence such as gunshots. Our aim is to explore the effect the disability has on the women’s quality of life. During data collection it was discovered that the families included in the study lived in poverty with children who were underfed or uncared for. Some children were allowed extraordinary freedoms and given responsibilities of caring for younger children in the household as well as cooking and cleaning. Some women reported being in abusive relationships.

Reflection: Key Theoretical Definitions :

Reflection: Key Theoretical Definitions What are your feelings about disability ? Discuss or describe your feelings about the women in this study. Did you have any emotional reaction to the data? If so describe the reaction. The act of coding is connected to the act of judging. How would your values affect your analysis of the data? Do you think they may differ from others on the team? How would approach coding these women’s quality of life?
