So why does it pay so little I have to moonlight at Walmart ?Slide 5: Why does dealing with the State feel like this?Slide 6: Why don’t they just do what the research says?Slide 7: We just want to learn as much as we can so we can become whatever we imagine.Slide 8: Connecticut needs a Commissioner of Early Childhood Education & Care.Slide 9: What do you mean, not every kid gets to go to daycare?Slide 10: Seven agencies – and no one in charge? This is no way to support children and families!Slide 11: Every day should be filled with reading, good food and lots of running and jumping!Slide 12: Why are they making me do first grade work in kindergarten?Slide 13: I wish I could afford the tuition at that daycare my doctor’s kid goes to.Slide 14: Family child care providers are eager to become full players in a professional system.Slide 15: I wish there was a way I could afford health care.Slide 16: I’d really like to help my employees find good quality child care. Where do I look?Slide 17: Should I worry that he doesn’t “know his letters” yet?Slide 18: Infants and toddlers receive less funding than preschoolers even though they cost nearly twice as much.Slide 19: It’s a no-brainer – every kid deserves all-day kindergarten.Slide 20: How do we connect young children with the physical and mental health care they need?Slide 21: As teachers, we feel unappreciated and treated like babysitters.Slide 22: This is how many friends I have who can’t find quality, affordable child care.Slide 23: Providing an opportunity for every child to have access to early childhood education and to attend pre-K programs is critical to Connecticut’s future.Slide 24: I like it when they stop trying to teach us and just let us learn.Slide 25: Parents need help to organize and hold our elected officials accountable!Slide 26: We need to take this community work to the state level.Slide 27: I invite you to spend a day in my shoes….Slide 28: We are here because children need a voice too!Slide 29: We spend $600 MILLION every year – and we need to know what we’re getting for it!Slide 30: I just love all these new books!Slide 31: I’m glad I finally figured out something we both like doing!Slide 32: You hold. I pour. And we’ll make water together.Slide 33: This child is SO ready to learn….Slide 34: Why do I have to fill out 5 different forms from 3 different agencies?Slide 35: How am I supposed to tell the difference between all these centers?Slide 36: I can’t believe the paperwork the State puts me through!Slide 37: Fragmented programming for young children splinters the effectiveness of what we’re paying for.Slide 38: Making change takes a long time. I’m glad they brought us books.Slide 39: Let’s help kids get the skills they need to succeed in school – and in life.Slide 40: Why can’t these adults get their act together?Slide 41: It is crucial that we speak up for our children.Slide 42: We really can coordinate all of this so much better.Slide 43: Why do we need an early childhood system that works for families and young children?Slide 44: Because she is worth it.Slide 45: Because he’s worth it!Slide 46: Because I’m worth itSlide 47: Because we are both worth it.Slide 48: Yes we can!
