The stem of the verb underlined The letter that changes italicized The ending of the verb BOLD The “ Boot ” Highlighted in blueHow Stem-Changing verbs work: How Stem -Changing verbs work Singular Plural (Yo) emp ie z o (N.) emp e z amos (Tú) emp ie z as (V.) emp e z aís (Ud.) emp ie z a (Uds.) emp ie z an Stem -changing verbs all follow the same pattern, First, conjugate your verb like usual. Then, look at the vowel before the ending and change it. Notice that all singular versions of the verb (yo, tú, ust.) experience the stem-change, as well as the Uds. version of the verb. (Remember Profe ’ s boot analogy). The “ -osotros ” conjugations DO NOT experience the stem-change, (Because they are not within that boot!), so conjugate them normally.
