The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle or H2O cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth.

Parts Of The Water Cycle

Slide 4:

The main forms of precipitation include rain, snow, ice pellets, and graupel.

Slide 5:

Rain is liquid precipitation. On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface. Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world, providing suitable conditions for diverse ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation. However, not all rain reaches the surface; some evaporates while falling through dry air. While most of the snow melts on earth during hot times, but sometimes remains for very long in cold areas like Alaska.
